I do believe that second-hand stores are one of the very few women-dominated businesses in Russia, mostly because it does not require a large sum to start up and because women in Eastern Europe are traditionally more interested in clothes.

I understand that Moscow has over several hundred second-hand stores, but they are usually a small basement type ones, and not easy to come across. I have never been to any, but I remember coming across their lists while doing research, so if you shoot me an e-mail with your location in Moscow (just click on “contact” in the top right corner), I could help out.

I read your article about the second hands and I’m wondering how we can find any… I asked some people but they are pretty hard to find!

It’s interesting that women are becoming entrepreneurs with that business, even if it doesn’t seem that much popular in Moscou. Is there any website, or something like that, about those? (I have to confess I am quite desesperated, as I’m addicted to second hands!)

By the way, I find your blog very interesting. I’m a Canadian student who studies in Moscow for the winter session, and I appreciate to have the point of view of someone who lives so close to that giant and who, on top of that, knows well about politics. Thank you for sharing those articles!
